Jon Bon Jovi Looking To Become An Nfl Team Owner

In his lifetime, he has given “Love a Bad Name” and told us that it was possible to be “Livin on a Prayer”. He has even told us in song that he’s wanted “Dead or Alive”. But is Jon Bon Jovi wanted to be part of a National Football League ownership group? Well if you have kept up on the latest rumors making the rounds, it certainly seems that there were talks about it. Yes Jon Bon Jovi is looking to become an NFL owner. Now that should be qualified by saying a “minority” owner, as opposed to the total owner of an NFL franchise. In this case, the talks surrounded Bon Jovi buying a 15 percent stake in the Atlanta Falcons. The parameters discussed were that the rocker would get a minority stake in the club (15 percent), and the price would be 150 million, or doing the math 1 million a percentage point. Now for all those Bon Jovi fans that are swooning at the prospects of becoming Falcons fans as well, the conjecture is that a deal probably is not coming. Both sides have acknowledged that discussions have taken place, but citing a report on ESPN.com, Atlanta owner Arthur Blank said discussions took place but were unlikely to produce an agreement, while Bon Jovi has stated that no further discussions with the Falcons were coming anytime soon. He did acknowledge that the Falcons had approached him awhile back, but a deal evidently could not be reached. Blank, who owns the Home Depot chain among other things, was doing what many owners do in today’s NFL, which is to sell minority stakes in the club to try and raise capital for other things. In Blank’s case, he has a desire to move his team out of the Georgia Dome and into an outdoor stadium somewhere in Georgia. Approaching the Bon Jovi front man was a step to try and start financing that new vision. From Bon Jovi’s perspective, this type of thing should not be seen as unexpected. He has always had an interest in sports and was himself an owner up through 2009 of the Arena Football League’s Philadelphia Soul. They even managed to win a championship before the league folded in 2009. He has a definite desire to take ownership to the next level and become invested in an NFL franchise, but in the end, perhaps this was just not the deal he had in mind.
